Kent Brewery aims to bring Kent beer into the 21st century with exciting new tastes and styles, using brand new hop varieties grown in Kent.  We are brewing with a mission to once again put Kent at the centre of the hop industry.  For almost 500 years, Kent was synonymous with hops in Britain.  It was the cradle of innovation - creating and producing the most popular hop varieties for over 200 years.  In the 18th century, 77,000 acres of Kent were dedicated to growing hops, and Londoners would holiday here to take part in the annual harvest.  Today, Kent's hop fields have been reduced to around 1000 acres, and it is no longer even the primary hop-growing county of England.  Kent Brewery wants this to change.

For too long Kent has relied upon the great innovations of the 18th and 19th centuries to provide the techniques and hop varieties for our beers.  New hops, new beer styles and new techniques have developed elsewhere and Kent is no longer leading the field.  We aim to bring innovation back into Kent brewing so that beer choice, and the economies that rely upon beer production, can again expand.   Kent Brewery beer will bring tradition, passion and innovation together to produce beers that are never mediocre, always interesting, often magnificent and occassionally entirely unique.
 
Kent Brewery will provide an expanding range of beers that highlight the best of what can be achieved through innovation in the hop-growing industry.  The hop fields of Kent will only be revitalised by competing with the most exciting new flavours from the US and New Zealand.  We need to innovate once again, in the best Kentish tradition.  Kent Brewery will use locally grown hops wherever possible, but our main goal is to produce great beer.  We will work with local producers to help expand the industry by encouraging the planting of new and exciting hop varieties.  Gradually we, and other breweries, will have no need to import hops from abroad and Kent will once again rise up and become the natural 'Home of the Hop'.
